In August we did make it to the Michigan Renaissance Festival located in Holly this year and really had a great time. The entertainment is for the most part free and there's always so many old world gifts or costumes to enjoy looking at as well.
One of the fun events to watch is the joust between the knights. As it happened on this day we were there an unfortunate fall caught a knights leg tangled in the horses rein. Court hands came running to the rescue as this gentle gelding stood patiently for the two of them to be untangled. A moment later they had the horse off in the shadow and about three people were tending to it's mouth to make certain there were no injuries from the strain of the bit on this fall. Of course the knight was fine and went on to finish the show. More photos of the joust can be seen at Divine Equine.
Later on we were walking around the north end of the festival gates where the stables were and all the horses were getting a nice cool down with the hose between eating and resting.
In fact everything about the Michigan Renaissance Festival is a lot of fun and everyone is really nice. If you like being part of the entertainment as well you might get lucky and become a part of the act in the Ded Bob Show! The Ded Bob audience is always full of people waiting to hear, "Hey Audience! Welcome to the Ded Bob Show." Then, "Look into my eye sockets... you've been Bob-motized!"
